Important Dates


  • The Federal tax season opens on January 27, 2020.
  • Federal tax returns must be filed by April 15, 2020.
  • Massachusetts tax returns must be filed by April 15, 2020.

Forms & Availability


The following forms and instructions will be available in the front hall of the Jones Library, under the main staircase. They will be available until they are gone or until April 21, 2020.

  • 1040 forms & instructions (redesigned format - to be used for all returns)
  • Massachusetts Resident Income Tax booklet - limited supply: 1 per household only
  • Massachusetts Nonresident or Part-Year Resident Income Tax booklet
You can also print your own copies of the forms and publications you need – or learn about filing electronically – by visiting the IRS website and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue website.

Only the forms and instructions for redesigned 1040 are being supplied to libraries by the IRS this year. Other federal tax forms and instructions can be obtained as follows:

  • visit IRS.gov/Forms to view and download forms and instructions
  • visit IRS.gov/OrderForms to order tax products to be delivered to you by mail
  • call the IRS at 800-829-3676 to order tax products to be delivered to you by mail
