Summer Reading for Adults

Imagine Your Story
Why let the kids have all the fun?! Make the time to enjoy some reading this summer as well, and sign up for the Jones Library's adult summer reading program. With a theme of "Imagine Your Story", Amherst residents are invited to set aside some time this summer to relax with a book, and explore all the things that libraries have to offer, whether it's reading materials, movies and music, or our many online offerings.

How does it work?

This year, we are doing things a little differently as we take the summer reading program online. We'll be using a platform called Beanstack, where you can log your reading and write book reviews to earn badges and win prizes.  Just follow these steps:

  • Follow this link to create an account in Beanstack, where you will track the books you read during July and August. (Audiobooks count too!)
  • Read or listen to at least 3 books, and write a book review to complete the summer reading challenge. Log in to your Beanstack account to log your reading and write your reviews.  You will win a badge for each book you read and for the book reviews you write.
  • Complete the summer reading challenge to win a prize - a $5 gift card to a downtown Amherst business. You will also be entered in the grand prize drawing.  Gift cards will be available for pick-up at the Jones Library after August 31st.  One gift card per participant. Prizes are for local participants only.  Stay tuned for more details!
  • To enter the drawing for the summer reading program grand prize, log your reading and book review by August 31st - you could be chosen to win one of three $50 gift cards for Amherst Books.
  • For another chance at the grand prize, read and log a total of 6 books and write a total of 2 book reviews.  Super-readers can earn another additional entry in the grand prize drawing by reading a total of 10 books and writing a total of 3 book reviews.

The drawing for the grand prize will be held on Monday, August 31.
