If you are fascinated by the dog/human relationship, then you will want to add this powerful true story to your reading list. The author grew up in a family that was ashamed of his poor vision, and so he spent decades pretending to be sighted and never leaving his little world. All that changed when at age 38 he went in a different direction, acknowledging his disability and receiving a guide dog, a magnificent yellow labrador named Corky. With Corky, he began a new life, one richly described in this memoir.
