Silvera is able to capture the authentic teen voice in a believable way with his protagonist Griffin, which will leave the reader feeling a full range of emotions as they travel through the world of teenage death, safe sex, gay love, and destructive choices. Griffin’s universe implodes when his first love and ex-boyfriend Theo dies. To make things worse, the only person who truly understands his heartache is Theo’s ex-boyfriend Jackson. But no matter how much they open up to each other, Griffin is losing himself in secrets that are tearing him apart. If he is to ever rebuild his future, he must confront his history.
