I was mesmerized by this novel about the Bloomsbury Group, which is told from the perspective of the artist Vanessa Bell, sister of Virginia Woolf. In 1905 in the London neighborhood of Bloomsbury, Vanessa and her three siblings establish a home that soon becomes a gathering place for a brilliant circle of friends. At the center of this circle are the devoted, gifted sisters whose complicated relationship is tested to the breaking point by their competing affections for two men. Spanning the years 1905 to 1912, the novel brings to life the artists and writers who formed the group. Local note: Priya Parmar was educated at Mount Holyoke College.
