Local Author Sabina Murray’s latest work features her usual sharp prose. In this novel, a Filipina American journalist returns to Manila both to avoid thinking about her impending divorce and to research a biography of Timicheg, an Indigenous Filipino man displayed in a "human zoo" in early 1900s America. She settles in with beloved relatives who live in upper-middle-class comfort. But she is regularly confronted by suffering wrought by the dictatorial regime. The tension slowly rises until the novel reaches a surprise ending.
