by Kwame Alexander
This short book weaves together inspirational quotes, bios, and poetry to talk about life and its challenges through sports metaphors. While it's not entirely about basketball (Kwame talks about his own experience playing tennis, for example), it will especially appeal to young b-ball fans. I usually prefer audiobooks of Kwame's novels in verse, but the photographs and artwork in this work lend themselves to a visual flip-through of a paper copy or e-book. Readers who enjoy this quick read are encouraged to check out Kwame's more weighty works, including middle grade titles Crossover, Booked, and Rebound as well as his young adult titles, Solo and Swing.
