With beautiful language and imagery, Karen Skolfield engages with the best and worst of humanity through the lens of her unique experiences as a female U.S. Army veteran. Her way with language is particularly noticeable in the way she artfully weaves together words and their origins - linking grenades and pomegranates for instance - to offer new insight into the way war is embedded in all aspects of our society. This latest volume of poetry from the gifted author of Frost in the Low Areas is not to be overlooked.
