This entertaining spoof of academia features a distinguished professor of economics at Cambridge, who in the opening scene has the media camped outside his door waiting to see if he wins the Nobel Prize. He may be at the top of his profession but his family life is in tatters. His wife has left him for a free-spirited American psychiatrist. His son is a capitalist guru with a cult following; his middle daughter has become a Marxist and refuses any contact with him; and his youngest daughter is struggling through her teenage years with the help of psychedelic drugs. Can this workaholic, pompous man find his way back to those he loves? In desperation, he enrolls in a workshop at a famous California retreat center where his comical but moving journey of self-realization begins.
