While We're Closed...

We miss seeing you all in person and we look forward to reopening our libraries as soon as it's safe to do so. In the meantime, here is some information about library services we're still able to offer.

SOME PROGRAMS & MEETINGS ARE MOVING ONLINEadded April 3, 2020

Our ESL Conversation Circles, Board of Trustees meetings, and some library programs (such as Julie's famous Ukulele Strum-Alongs) are now available online. In addition, we're introducing new online programs, including author interviews. Check out our Events Calendar for details.

WHICH AMHERST AREA BUSINESSES ARE OPEN?added March 20, 2020

The Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce and Amherst Business Improvement District (BID) have created a list of local business with adjusted hours, services, and operations (Google Doc) during the COVID-19 emergency. They will attempt to keep the list up-to-date, but clearly this information is changing quickly. We hope you find it useful.

GETTING BOOK RECOMMENDATIONSadded March 19, 2020

Need help figuring out what to read next? Request a Personalized Reading List.

Please specify if you are looking for digital books & audiobooks that can be downloaded for free from OverDrive (and the Libby app) or whether you plan to purchase them.

NOTE: You can buy locally from our good friends at Amherst Books. See how to order (PDF).
CONTACTING USupdated March 30, 2020

Please complete our Ask a Librarian form and we will respond as soon as possible. If you are having trouble accessing our digital collections and online resources, please report a problem.

Please note that library staff will be checking voicemail and email periodically, so you may not receive an immediate response.
BORROWING, REQUESTING & RETURNING ITEMS

  • No items will be due while we are closed. If you get an overdue notice while we are closed, please ignore it.
  • No overdue fines will accumulate.
  • Please do not return library materials to our libraries. All of our book drops will be locked until further notice.
  • If you’ve received a notice that an item you requested has come in, it will still be here waiting for you when we re-open.
  • You may continue placing holds in the CW MARS catalog, but no items will be delivered to us until further notice and no items will be lent from our libraries until further notice.
  • The Commonwealth Catalog will not be accepting holds.
LET THE LIBRARY COME TO YOU

PLEASE NOTE: Many of our digital resources require a Jones Library card, as noted. (Cards issued by other area libraries will not provide access to these resources.) In the case of Kanopy, access is only available to residents of Amherst or to holders of free BPL eCards.
