We Want to Hear from YOU!

In celebration of our centennial, we are asking people to share their stories of the Jones Library. Together these stories will show the impact that the Jones Library has had on the Town of Amherst for the past one hundred years. Questions about the project? Contact specialcollections@joneslibrary.org or call 413-259-3097 for more information.

How to Share Your Story

Don’t know what to talk about?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • The day you got your first library card
  • Bringing your children or grandchildren to the library
  • Attending an event including ESL, book club, story time, etc.
  • A memorable interaction with a staff member
  • Working or volunteering in the library
  • Finding a great book, movie, CD, or manuscript
  • How library resources have helped you
  • How the library has changed or stayed the same over the years
  • Experience with the homebound program
  • Visiting the library for a second grade field trip

How will these stories be used?

Your submissions will added to the Jones Library Collection and will remain a permanent part of Special Collection at the Jones Library where they will be publicly accessible. Stories and photographs may also appear on our website, in social media, and in library exhibits. By submitting stories and/or photographs, you are agreeing to allow us use of these materials.

The centennial celebration is funded in part by federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
