Important Dates


  • The Federal and Massachusetts tax filing seasons open on January 24, 2022.
  • Federal individual tax returns must be filed by April 18, 2022.
  • Massachusetts individual tax returns must be filed by April 19, 2022.

Forms & Availability


Tax forms are now available under the staircase in the front hall of the Jones Library. The tax forms will be available until they are gone or until April 30, 2022.

  • 1040 forms & instructions (redesigned format - to be used for all returns)
  • Massachusetts Resident Income Tax booklet - limited supply: 1 per household only
  • Massachusetts Nonresident or Part-Year Resident Income Tax booklet
You can also print your own copies of the forms and publications you need – or learn about filing electronically – by visiting the IRS website and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue website.  To use the Jones Library Print from Home service to print the tax forms you need, just follow this link.  For additional assistance, please call the reference desk at 413-259-3096.

Only the forms and instructions for redesigned 1040 are being supplied to libraries by the IRS this year. Other federal tax forms and instructions can be obtained as follows:

  • visit IRS.gov/Forms to view and download forms and instructions
  • visit IRS.gov/OrderForms to order tax products to be delivered to you by mail
  • call the IRS at 800-829-3676 to order tax products to be delivered to you by mail
