The Boltwood Collections feature material on family and local history. They include family genealogies and other genealogical reference sources, histories of states, counties, and towns, published vital records and general histories. The manuscript collection emphasizes the history of Amherst and the Pioneer Valley from 1730 to the present. The 20,000 documents include diaries, account books, letters, wills, deeds and other personal, business and church papers. Much of this collection is available on microfilm. Publications by writers who are or were Amherst residents. Publications by Amherst printers, 1825- An important collection of ca. 1,000 18th and 19th century juvenile and schoolbooks, with particular strengths in early American readers and spellers. Unpublished family and personal papers, organizational and business records, and artificial subject collections. Included here are the Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost Collections.
