Job searching can be a challenge when trying to find what jobs are available. Keep in mind that many companies post current job openings on their individual websites. In addition, check out these websites to see what other jobs may be available. Some of these sites allow job searchers to post their resumes as well.

Local Sites

Franklin-Hampshire Career Center - With offices in Northampton and Greenfield, this center supports and promotes workforce and economic development in the region by connecting job seekers and employers.

Mass. Div. of Employment and Training - This is the place to start in looking for job openings in Massachusetts. First, click on the Job Quest link. There are several options here: Browse the Job Bank; Register as a user to receive updates of daily listings that match your profile; and Find out about job training opportunities. FutureWorks, located in Springfield, is one of the career centers that is operated by DET. Check out the site to see what they offer to job seekers at the Springfield office.

Civil Service Testing - This is where the examination schedule is posted for Civil Service exams in Massachusetts.

Nohojobs.com - This local job board provides listing for jobs available in Northampton and surrounding towns. It includes full-time, part-time, hourly, salaried and temporary positions.

Springfieldhelpwanted.com - You can search through the job ads and send your resume to the jobs you want; or you can post your resume and let job recruiters find you.

Western MassWorks - This is a local job board covering Western Massachusetts, from Worcester to the Berkshires. You can search and respond to job listings, or post your resume and let job recruiters find you. There are links to other regional job boards as well, in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island.

Eastern MassWorks - The eastern Massachusetts equivalent to the site listed above. Use this link to search for jobs in Boston and eastern Massachusetts.

MassLive - Job listings at this site come from the Springfield Republican. After you select a job category, you're given the option of selecting a job title or adding a keyword. Once you register (it's free), you can post your resume so that job notices that fit your qualifications are emailed to you.

Working for the State - Use this link to track down the jobs available with the State.

Jobfind.com - Job listings listed here are for companies who have offices in eastern Massachusetts. The company may also post job openings in other parts of New England. You can search by company or by keyword.

Newspaper websites are another source to try. Here are three to cover several regions of Massachusetts: Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram, Berkshire Eagle.

National Sites

job-hunt - This site has been award at "Best of the Web" for job hunting and careers by Forbes and PC Magazine. It provides extensive links to information and services, and state-specific resources can be selected.

CareerOneStop Job Bank - This page provides links to job banks in all the states. Other information at this site includes career exploration, resume information, and education links.

CareerBuilder - This is one of the largest databases of job listings. CareerBuilder allows you to search over 75 of the top databases on the Internet, using job descripton and/or keywords. The databases include newspapers from across the nation and employers' websites. From the list that is retrieved you decide to which employers you'll email your resume.

Monster.com - Along with the usual job search feature this site also has links to self-assessement quizzes and career management advice. The Resume Builder helps to tailor your resume to fit the job you want. They feature a "virtual interview," so that you can practice your interviewing skills. Advice on resumes, cover letters, negotiations, and networking is also provided.

CareerLink.com - The Applied Information Management Institute provides this center for community career opportunities. This job board covers the United States, but searches can also be specified by state. Job seekers are also able to post a resume.

USA Jobs - The official site for federal government job openings and employment information. Find information on salary and benefits, and student employment. There is even an opportunity to apply online.

International Sites

Overseas Jobs - Browse jobs by location or search by keyword. Be sure to check out the "Resources & Advice" section to find links to thousands of other career websites.

EscapeArtist.com - This site provides links to overseas employment resources, listed by location or by category. It also gives links for country profiles and living overseas.

BBB Overseas Job Scams - Go to this site to read about overseas employment scams.
