Coretta Scott King Award Winners 1996 - present

1970-1995

The Coretta Scott King Award is presented to authors and illustrators of African descent whose books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream." The award honors both Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King for their work in promoting peace and world brotherhood. The winners are chosen by a seven-member national award jury.
