Annual Fund Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE King Tut to Chair Amherst, MA Public Library's Annual Fund Campaign The Pharaoh Tutankhamen, known as "King Tut," will chair the Annual Fund Campaign of The Jones Library, Inc., in Amherst, MA. The Library's holdings of Robert Frost materials, as well as papers of Emily Dickinson, Julius Lester, and other authors and artists, draw scholars and visitors worldwide. King Tut has been a presence in the Library Trustees' Room since 2004, when patrons donated a life-sized reproduction of his sarcophagus. "We are thrilled that King Tut will chair the Annual Fund," said Library Director Sharon Sharry. "His leadership will certainly help in reaching our fiscal year 2012 goal of $85,000 to fund services for patrons of all ages." King Tut credits the Jones Library's award-winning English as a Second Language Program for his facility with English. As the 1% of his own day, he is pleased to help bring the joys of reading to today's 100%. "Modern technology is amazing," he observes. "Cardholders can borrow more than 37,000,000 books, DVDs, and CDs through interlibrary loan, plus those nifty ebooks. You no longer need all those scribes!" King Tut also admires how patrons donate these days. "You write on a little piece of paper called a check. So much easier than papyrus! Or, go online to www.joneslibrary.org and donate by PayPal or credit card. You no longer need all those dromedaries to schlep your gold!" The Jones Library is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Tax-deductible donations can even give the IRS a grin: receipts include King Tut's personal thanks, and are hand-stamped with his royal cartouche. King Tut is available for photo ops at The Jones Library during regular Library hours. For media interviews, please contact Library Director Sharon Sharry, 413-259-3090. |
