What are Conversation Circles?

A weekly opportunity to practice speaking English in an informal setting.
We will talk about:
everyday life the U.S. (like: money, healthcare, children, schools).
We will not talk about:
academic topics (like history, science, literature, theory, philosophy, research
Expect to participate in:
conversation, discussions, role-plays, speaking games.
Do not expect:
homework, textbooks, tests, presentations, formal language exercises.
You will practice:
speaking, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation.
You will not practice:
grammar, writing, reading.
We hope you will also make new friends, exchange ideas with other people, develop confidence in your English conversation skills, and have fun!
Who can participate?
Intermediate level speakers of English (immigrants and international visitors welcome)
How much does it cost?
This is a free program of the Jones Library ESL Center. The leader is a community volunteer.
How do I register?
Speak to the teacher before class, or visit Lynne in the ESL office.
Can I bring my child along?
No. We're sorry, but we cannot provide childcare for this event.
