ESL Classes and Resources for International Visitors

Round the World Women:

Free activities (trips, parties, speakers, etc.) and conversation groups for international women. The program is run by local volunteers. For information, contact the UMass International Programs Office: 545-2843

American Language and Culture Program:

ESL/cultural orientation classes for foreign students/scholars and their families. (Small fee) For information, contact the UMass International Programs Office: 545-2710.

International Language Institute:

Tuition-based intensive daytime ESL classes, on the bus route in downtown Northampton: 17 New South St.

Jones Library:

Anyone who lives in Massachusetts can get a library card and borrow ESL books, tapes, and videos. Also, the library web site lists many free internet sites you can use to study English independently on your home computer:
