On March 26, the Trustees considered the input gathered from the public, staff and Friends from previous meetings. After several hours, they revised their position on the cuts necessary to limit town funding increases to 1%. The Trustees voted as follows:
Revenues:- Use $19,000 from new fines revenue (still to be agreed on with the Finance Committee)
- Use $3,600 from the Public Libraries Fund (just received)
- Use $20,000 from state aid in FY 2008 as soon as it is received in FY 2008.
- $7,000 hourly office staff
- $4,300 No ESL staff in the summer
- $14,869 from the materials budget
Total: $68,769 combined revenues and cuts.
In the event that the override on the ballot for May 1, 2007 passes, the library would receive about an additional $30,000 for a 3% increase in the budget. The Trustees voted to use this additional money as follows:
- restore the $14,869 for materials
- not change the rest of the cuts and revenues listed above
- restore $15,000 in funding for Monday mornings at Jones Library and branch library hours for six half days/week.
